Enrichment & extracurricular activities

At Future Academies Watford Sixth Form, we believe education extends beyond the classroom. Our enrichment programme is designed to complement academic study while supporting students’ personal development and preparing them for life beyond Sixth Form.

Our enrichment offer focuses on four key areas:

  • Connecting students to the world of work, future education, training and employment
  • Enriching and extending the academic curriculum
  • Providing exposure to culture, the arts and sport
  • Building character, integrity, resilience and judgement

We aim to provide a broad and engaging range of opportunities that support both academic success and personal growth. Our programme includes a mixture of weekly timetabled sessions, guest speakers from industry and universities, and activities that encourage wider development.

Key Opportunities

LAMDA (Public Speaking and Performing Arts)

All Sixth Form students have the opportunity to complete a LAMDA qualification in Public Speaking or Performing Arts. Students typically work towards Grades 6–8, gaining UCAS points alongside valuable communication and performance skills.

Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
Students can choose to complete the EPQ, an independent research project that develops key skills needed for university-level study. The EPQ is highly regarded by universities, particularly Russell Group institutions, as it demonstrates strong academic ability, independence and intellectual curiosity.

Leadership Opportunities
Sixth Form students play an important role in the life of the academy. There are opportunities to contribute through student leadership roles, mentoring younger pupils, and participating in reading programmes, with the potential to gain accreditation.

Educational Visits and Cultural Experiences
Students benefit from a range of trips and visits designed to enhance their learning and broaden their cultural understanding. These include subject-specific visits, theatre trips and wider enrichment experiences.

Work Experience
All Year 12 students have the opportunity to take part in work experience. We support students in securing placements that align with their interests and future aspirations, helping them to develop valuable workplace skills.
